BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS / CHALLENGES

A consumer goods manufacturer wanted a robust forecasting and planning tool to do the following:

  • Improve its supply chain performance by de-risking the supply chain on all critical components
  • Improve part availability and insights into price fluctuation on a $6 billion spend forecasting analysis. The existing solution was outdated and did not allow the measurement of different buckets that affected the prices
  • Provide the ability to run queries for as many regions in the same format
SOLUTION
To accomplish this task, the customer chose SAP’s Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) embedded module and Analysis for Office (AFO).
RESULTS

The new solution provided a streamlined user interface utilizing AFO front end and a robust monthly forecasting process leveraging BPC’s powerful calculation engine, integrating the various aspects of the business processes to create a harmonious solution.

This increased efficiency in the forecasting process and freed up time for business users to spend more time running the analytics and adjusting the numbers as needed.

The solution streamlined the communication between Finance, Commodity (Buyers) and the Risk Management teams resulting in:
